National handball champion R.Sridevi decided to stop working as a domestic help, after she got offers of jobs and financial aid following a report in these columns on Wednesday.
Sridevi was forced to sweep houses to raise money for her education. Having decided to discontinue working, she went to practice in the evening.
Earlier, the media descended on Sridevi’s house following the DC report. Her mother R.Lakshmamma said, “I thought she was selected for a bigger event. Then I realized they came to see us”.
Centre for Action Research and Peoples Development has offered her Rs.3,000 a month for a year, CARPED Secretary M.Bharath Bhushan said.
DVR Engineering college has offered her a job as instructor. Principal Lakshmipathy said the college in Kandi, Medak, would provide her with stay or bus facility if she wanted to stay in Hyderabad. Dc readers also wrote in offering help.
